The Gap We Kept Seeing

Over the course of 15 acquisitions at a multinational technology business, the same pattern kept emerging. Each newly acquired company had security and compliance bolted onto someone else’s role — a finance director managing GDPR on the side, an IT manager handling Cyber Essentials between helpdesk tickets. Nobody owned it. Nobody had the bandwidth to do it properly.

The result was predictable. Gaps in controls. Certifications that lapsed. Evidence that wouldn’t hold up under scrutiny. And businesses that were losing contracts — or couldn’t bid for them in the first place — because they couldn’t demonstrate the security posture their clients and sectors required.

The Person Behind Aursec

Ben Wright — Managing Director

CISM Certified ISO 27001

Ben is a CISM-certified information security and compliance professional with over a decade of experience building security functions, achieving certifications, and managing risk across complex, multinational environments.

His background spans end-to-end security and compliance programmes — including HITRUST, ISO 27001, Cyber Essentials, GDPR, and HIPAA — across data protection, endpoint management, infrastructure security, and global regulatory frameworks.

That experience included leading security and compliance across multiple acquisitions, assessing and aligning businesses to enterprise security frameworks. A consistent pattern emerged: smaller businesses were carrying significant risk with no dedicated resource to address it.

He founded Aursec to put that enterprise-level experience to work for smaller businesses — the ones that need it most but have historically had the least access to it.
